Our Mission

The California Financial Literacy Portal (CFLP) exists to make financial literacy accessible to all California residents. We bring together information, news, and practical resources so that individuals and families can navigate their financial lives with greater confidence — from budgeting and saving to avoiding scams and planning for homeownership.

What We Offer

CFLP aggregates event calendars from state agencies including CalHR, EDD, DBO, CSLB, and the Franchise Tax Board. Our Outreach Toolkit provides budget worksheets, calculators, and a comprehensive financial glossary. The blog features consumer alerts, fraud prevention tips, and guidance on topics such as student loans and homeownership.

Who We Work With

CFLP collaborates with a range of organizations committed to financial education across California:

  • Department of Business Oversight (DBO)
  • Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
  • Ventura County Community Development Corporation
  • State agencies including CalHR, EDD, CSLB, and the Franchise Tax Board
  • Nonprofit community service organizations statewide

Financial literacy initiatives reach more people when public agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions work together toward shared goals. In California, partnerships often bring together state departments, nonprofit service groups, and regional partners to extend the reach of budgeting tools, savings guidance, and consumer protection information. Coordinated outreach helps students, families, and seniors access trustworthy resources that support informed decisions about banking, credit, housing, and long-term planning. By aligning efforts across sectors, these collaborations reduce duplication and expand the visibility of free educational content for residents statewide.

Making Financial Literacy Accessible

We prioritize reaching Californians where they are — whether that means providing online financial education modules, sharing mobile app recommendations, or connecting homebuyers with resources like CalHFA. Our content is shaped by educators, state agency experts, and community partners who understand the real-world financial challenges people face.
